Ain't God good?!!

>> 20 October 2009

The check I've been waiting for finally arrived, so I headed straight for the big city to buy groceries. And, as if that wasn't blessing enough, I got my MyPoints reward today... a $25 GC for Applebee's. DS volunteered to go with me and we got the 2/$20 deal. What a treat!

After we ate, we decided to go check out HHGregg... to give us a little time to recover before shopping... ever grocery shop right after a big meal? ( * ; * ) Another blessing was about to hit me. We looked at stoves and I found the one I want. Now I need to research, coz if I find a lower price, they'll beat it. As we were leaving the store, I grabbed a sale flyer. Now usually, we'd take off and I'd look at the flyer at home, but I decided to take just a couple minutes there in the parking lot. Hold and below, the pay-as-you-go phones we use (Net10) were on sale for HALF PRICE! (I had run out of time over the weekend and was going to wait till the end of the month to get a new one!) I called Duller right away (it was 5PM by now & he has an HHGregg card) and had him meet us there. We bought the last 4 they had.

DS decided he'd just as soon take off, so Duller went with me to Publix. Between BOGOs and super coupons, we ended up spending $35.xx for about $70 worth of groceries. He was in a REALLY good mood over that. 8-]

OK, I don't do coffee, so Idano if Eight O'clock brand is any good, but Publix has it BOGO right now AND there's a printable coupon for $2 off here, making it $2.99 for 2 bags. That's pretty good for coffee, ain't it? They had several flavours from which to choose.

Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

And if you love TGI Fridays, click here for 2 coupons.
One is for a free appetizer with any drink purchase from 4-closing.
You have to order at the bar, but you don't have to order an alcoholic drink.
The other is for a $5 sandwich or salad during lunch hours.
Call first to make sure your local restaurant is a 'participating location'.

Thrifty Thursday

Times are tough all over and we're all doing our part to fight fiscal frustration.

I NEVER shop at WD here. They have been accused - and I believe it - of taking items out of the dumpster and reshelving them. I have taken back things that had been opened - no phfff when I removed the lid - and later found the same items back on the shelf. UGH! The place is disgusting!

Admittedly, Publix is, as a rule, a bit more expensive. But with a little planning, we can save a ton. The thing I love most about Publix - well, second to its obviously superior environment - is the plethora of BOGO deals. Last week, between the BOGOs and coupons, I paid app. $66 for $111 worth of groceries! (And that was without really thoroughly scouring all the coupon sources available!) Keep your eyes peeled for coupons on those sale items. They had a BOGO offer on Old El Paso dinner kits. I had a coupon for $1 off 3 OEP items AND a coupon for a free OEP taco seasoning package. Bottom line: I got 2 dinner kits and the seasoning pack for under $2. And I later found out I could have gotten a free shopping bag with that purchase. Yep, I'm still learning.

Today's lesson: When you think you've found all the coupons you can use, go back and look again. 8-]

Upside down?

>> 23 September 2009

If you're in a Publix state, check out the Freedom sour cream. It's on sale for 99¢ AND there are 55¢ coupons on the shelf. As an added bonus, we get 15¢ back every time we use our ATM card, so I got it for 29¢! WOOHOO! I wish I could buy a bunch and freeze it all. Unfortunately, sour cream doesn't do well after freezing. However, I've heard that storing it upside down in the fridge is supposed to make it last longer. Has anyone tried this?

Publix also has the best BOGO sales. This week, I'm struggling to resist filling my freezer with Smart Ones desserts. 8-]

One little trick I use in deciding what to buy now and what to put off till next week. In some areas, Publix sales start on Wednesday, and in others (including mine) on Thursday. So I check the online ads, then switch to an area that starts a day earlier. That way I don't get annoyed that I bought chicken yesterday and it went on sale today. (Clear as mud?)

Love y'all bunches!
Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

About Me

My photo
I love JESUS! I'm a 7th-generation Florida native, dyed-in-the-wool Southron belle. I just recently dusted off my genealogy notes and, thanks to a long-lost relative, nearly doubled the details. We started home schooling when only 'outlaws' did it and still enjoy a daily quest for knowledge. These days, the family spends a lot of time birding, butterflying, spending as much time in 'the woods' as possible while they're still here.
