catching up on the awards circuit

>> 12 January 2009

I am embarrassed and ashamed at how far behind I've gotten. The holidays are a fair excuse - and partially legitimate - but mostly just that... an excuse. (Truth be told, I've let some discouragement and insecurities creep in and seriously considered deleting this blog entirely.)

My humblest apologies to KIM for letting her bestowment go unacknowledged for so long. She has a beautiful soul, creative spirit and loving heart and deserves better from a friend.

Now, without further ado, I most humbly and gratefully accept the following blog awards.

With this one, I am supposed to fess up to 5 addictions and then tag 5 fabulous people.

Well, in no particular order, I am addicted to...

1 - JESUS - yep, definitely A2J
2 - Kirkland's - if we had a Dockside Imports nearby, that would be on the list
3 - my camera - it's practically an appendage
4 - yellow rice with either black beans or Muir Glen tomato soup
5 - books - I have hundreds in boxes, waiting for the home library of my dreams. 8-}

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

This award has a fun twist ... find the book closest to you, turn to page 56, and type in the fifth sentence plus a couple more after that. Then pass it on to 5 other bookies.

The book closest to me right now is Fireproof. I haven't really had a chance to get into it yet, but it's first on my list next time I come up for air. 8-]

No return?
That sounded like surrender, like giving up. But who was Caleb fooling? Marriage wasn't a game, some contest in which all the spoils went to the victor. This was supposed to be a joint venture, right? A partnership. And his partner wanted nothing to do with him.

I'm going to pass BOTH of these on to
SwampAngel, Mikki, GraceAnne, Meems, and... darn, everyone I would have listed either has already been bestowed or doesn't 'do' awards/tags... and I drove over 800 miles this weekend, so my brain is just too tired to hunt down more... so PLEASE, if you're a regular reader, consider yourself twice-bestowed!

God bless y'all! Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

Two awards and a tag...

>> 18 November 2008

Thanks Chris and Kim!

The awards:

Kim, bless her Homesteader's Heart, has blessed me with this award. Kim is one of those few online buds with whom I felt an instant rapport. And as I'm getting to know her a little better, I can see why. We have so much in common, not the least of which is a slightly warped sense of humour. 8-]

  4. 4. a great read
  5. 5. has an amazing design
  6. 6. or any other reason(s) you can think of that makes it uber amazing!

SwampAngel Chris is another soul sister. Isn't it great when you 'meet' someone and really click from the get-go?

'This blog invests and believes in proximity!'
Proximity - The state, quality, sense, or fact of being near or next; closeness.

That's one of the best things about blogging. We make friends and develop a closeness that transcends the miles between us. Now, without further ado, I'm passing this one along to some old friends and some new:
Brenda
Kim
Kathy
Cathy
Graceanne

The tag
:

Kim probably forgot after all this time that she tagged me with a doozy.
I'm supposed to list 15 things I'm not afraid to admit. Hmmm... Let me see...

15 things I'm Not Afraid to Admit

  1. 1. I'm way too good at stretching a sick day into a week. 8-}
  2. 2. I do crosswords, logic problems, sudoku, etc, in ink. Kim, I totally relate to your #10.
  3. 3. I think I might have too many books. I've listed, so far, over 700 on LibraryThing and have several boxes - that I know of - to go.
  4. 4. I don't believe in modern medicine. Exercise, dietary changes and/or supplements have always taken care of what ails me.
  5. 5. I don't wear shoes. If I have to go out, I begrudgingly wear flip flops... mocs in winter.
  6. 6. I'm a terrific planner... but a terrible implementer. I have all sorts of ideas rolling around in my head, but I just can't figure out where to start making them happen.
  7. 7. DS's IQ is 10 points higher than mine. This made homeschooling a breeze. 8-]
  8. 8. I don't feel like I completely 'fit in' anywhere. I'm too citified for the country folk and too countrified for the city folk.
  9. 9. I tend to lose interest in things once I 'master' them. Example... I got a computer chess game and learned to play. After I started beating the computer, I didn't play anymore.
  10. 10. I hate reading directions. The older I get the more visual I become. Show me what to do and I'm good to go.
  11. 11. I love to cook and I'd cook more - like all the time - if I could get somebody else to clean up. 8-}
  12. 12. I'm super cheap. But also generous to a fault. I can easily spend money on others, but have a really hard time buying anything for myself. (Working on that 8-} )
  13. 13. I'm way too eclectic. I'm making myself get rid of tons of 'stuff' so our house will stop looking like a thrift store.
  14. 14. I'll sometimes watch a tv program just to see how the homes are decorated.
  15. 15. No matter how I try, I just can't do mornings. I get ambitious after everybody else is asleep and would vacuum then, but the dog hates the vc and would go nuts. Duller has been known to wake up to rearranged furniture. 8-}

Whew! Now I'm supposed to tag 5 people to own up to 15 things...
I know for a fact some of the people I would tag will not do this. Some have a sidebar graphic that reads, 'Please don't tag me; it makes me grouchy'. And some have already been tagged with this one. So, if you're reading this and don't fit any of those categories, please consider yourself tagged. 8-}

PS - It just dawned on me... I probably should have posted the 'proximity' award on my other blog. What can I say... I should have done this at 2AM, when I was actually conscious. 8-}

About Me

My photo
I love JESUS! I'm a 7th-generation Florida native, dyed-in-the-wool Southron belle. I just recently dusted off my genealogy notes and, thanks to a long-lost relative, nearly doubled the details. We started home schooling when only 'outlaws' did it and still enjoy a daily quest for knowledge. These days, the family spends a lot of time birding, butterflying, spending as much time in 'the woods' as possible while they're still here.
