We really shouldn't decorate for Christmas

Send in the clones

Another mow-ron has done a study. Sitting in a room with a small Christmas tree made non-Christians and those who do not celebrate Christmas feel 'less self-assurance and fewer positive feelings than if they hadn't been reminded of the holiday'. And they weren't even aware they felt this way! The perpetrator of this study says, '...the majority should take a closer look at how its symbols affect minorities.' (emphasis mine). OK, what's wrong with that statement?! Same ol', same ol... 300 million people should alter their entire existence so 3,ooo people won't feel so bad about themselves. Forget about the utter fallibility factor involved in such a 'study'.

When are we gonna put a stop to all this stupidity?! Seriously, if we don't get off our collective backside and put our big hairy foot down, we're gonna wake up in a third world country. Without leaving home!

No kiddin'!!
Amen to all the above.

WHAR' is the old core strength of Americans?

I doan feel intimidated when I walk into my local grocery week after week to find my ole southern favorites ( speckled butter beans) done give way to frozen yucca patties for Puerto Rican families.

If yaq doan like the dominant cultural symbols, remember that you are free to ignore them-don't buy them, don't participate at the Christmas parade--whatever floats yore boat. But the colossal hubris that thinks millions should suffer fer yore whining is insane.

Great post, Sophie Mae.

About Me

My photo
I love JESUS! I'm a 7th-generation Florida native, dyed-in-the-wool Southron belle. I just recently dusted off my genealogy notes and, thanks to a long-lost relative, nearly doubled the details. We started home schooling when only 'outlaws' did it and still enjoy a daily quest for knowledge. These days, the family spends a lot of time birding, butterflying, spending as much time in 'the woods' as possible while they're still here.
