What was your sermon about today?

>> 24 September 2008

How many people 'heard' your sermon today? You say you're not a preacher? Oh, but you are! You preach a sermon to every person you meet.

When you saw that man sitting alone in the restaurant, did you flash a smile his way? Maybe even say hello on your way past? What a blessing your one kind word might have been to a lonely man who just recently lost his wife of 38 years.

When the cashier fumbled and made you late getting home to watch your favourite show, did you scowl and complain? You didn't know it was her first day, did you? She had to go to work after her husband left her with 3 children to feed. She was hurting inside and nervous about learning to work the register. And her boss was watching from across the aisle. What do you think happened after you left?

Yes, your sermons very often contain no words at all. Just a cheerful smile, a patient attitude, an understanding nod. When you're out there representing God, what message are you preaching? After running into you, do those people want what you have?

Very thought provoking my friend. I honestly do try to bring a little joy to those I come in contact with. You'd be surprised how many people won't even make eye contact with you any more though. It's sad really. Great post!

About Me

My photo
I love JESUS! I'm a 7th-generation Florida native, dyed-in-the-wool Southron belle. I just recently dusted off my genealogy notes and, thanks to a long-lost relative, nearly doubled the details. We started home schooling when only 'outlaws' did it and still enjoy a daily quest for knowledge. These days, the family spends a lot of time birding, butterflying, spending as much time in 'the woods' as possible while they're still here.
